This 100% combed cotton trippytaka original men’s Ford XA GT Falcon t-shirt pays tribute to a dark time in Australian motoring, the 1972 Supercar scare.
When the XA GT was released in 1972, it marked a turning point in Ford Australia’s design. A step away from the raw edges of the previous XY Falcon GT, the lines of the Australian designed Grand Tourer were considered extremely refined for its day, that's why it looks so good on our For Falcon XA GT t-shirt.
The XA GT came equipped with a 351 Cleveland motor and the more powerful Phase 4 XA GTHO was eagerly awaited. But before the Phase IV could make it into showrooms, the politicians and public were whipped into a frenzied panic after respected motoring journalist, Even Green, reported on the possibility of 160mph Australian Supercars.
As a result, the XA GT Phase 4 was cancelled. Only one was ever built. It still survives to this day and is owned by a man nicknamed “The Dentist”. Of course, the XA GT lived on and was a huge success.
With trippytaka's XA Falcon GT t-shirt, you can relive the legend of the phase 4.
