While Ford fans will chirp (and rightly so) that the XR GT Falcon was the ‘original’ Australian muscle car, there’s no denying the car that turned the muscle car snowflake into a snowball. Released in July 1968, the HK Monaro was Australia’s first locally produced sports coupe.

There’s nothing quite like the muscular stance of the LX ‘A9X Option’ Torana. In fact, we’re not the only ones who think this. The LX A9X (SS hatch) was voted 48th most beautiful car of all time, by Wheels magazine in November 2009…
